Anne Bacon graduated with a Dip AD in fine art from Norwich School of Art and  a Post Graduate Diploma in the conservation of paintings. After graduating she worked  as a paintings’ conservator and part time lecturer in the history of artists’ materials and techniques before working full time as a lecturer in the conservation of paintings. In 2008 she took early retirement as Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer for paintings’ conservation for the MA Conservation of Fine Art programme (Northumbria University ),  where she maintains links as a Visiting Fellow in paintings conservation.

Anne Bacon is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation (IIC)  and a founder member of ENCoRE (the European Network for Conservation/Restoration Education), she is  also a member of the UK Institute for Conservation (ICON) and a Trustee of the Ashington Group Paintings.
